It’s a dream of nearly every engineering aspirant, to be a part of one of the most reputed engineering institutes in India. Everyone knows that IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) are the pioneering institutes in India for engineering and are government funded institutions. Indian Institutes of Technology are the most famed and celebrated institutes in this country for the students who wish to carve a career in the field of technology.
IITs are among the oldest educational institutes in India and have built quite a reputation over the years. They are credited for being the most technologically radical and providing superlative infrastructure for research purposes. Socially, the IITs are regarded very highly in mainstream Indian society- it is assumed that you will live a comfortable, cushy life once you’re done with your IIT studies.
The entrance into the Bachelor degree in IITs is through IIT-JEE which is the Joint Entrance Examination for all the IITs in the country. JEE is said to be one of the toughest examinations across the world. It has components of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Now, for those of you who aspire to be an IITian, it is crucial to plan ahead. JEE demands complete dedication and a thorough understanding of concepts. This has now led to the start of many coaching institutes offering various programmes like 2, 3 and 4 year coaching. There are even programmes which start from class 6. One need ample time to completely understand the concepts. However starting as early as class 6 may not be advisable. One should first understand what he/she would like to do and then start working towards it. At eleven years of age, a child is not mature enough to make career decisions.
Serious preparation of two years should be adequate to be proficient in the respective subjects. Most of the syllabus is in sync with NCERT and so one should follow this and be thorough with it. You should not neglect your boards for IIT-JEE as this would also hold some percentage in deciding the rank. You should regularly practise and take regular tests to assess your performance.
People think JEE is just another exam and can be cracked easily. This is wrong! JEE is difficult to crack, and cannot be taken lightly. It requires combination of both hard work and smart work to clear this highly competitive exam. This is because the problems asked in IIT-JEE not only involve strong basics but also will be blend of various concepts. So you should be very clear with your foundation and should be able to apply any concept in different ways. You should be able to analyze the given problem and should draw exact conclusions from it. This is possible only when you have strong hold on the subjects.

While learnpedia is a great resource for students to prepare for exams, there is an equally large gap when it comes to college selection, which is what we intend to solve at http://www.getmyuni.com
If there is anyway we can partner, that’ll be great.
For eg: once a student is done with the exams s/he can explore http://www.getmyuni.com/btech-colleges
This is the most exhaustive list of btech colleges in India and has the right filters so that you can choose what you like.
Nice tips ! If you really aim to get AIR-1, then you must also join some good coaching class. One of my friend joined kalpvraksh but his brother joined Catalyser, both were average student but the teachers of catalyser made him so much confidence that he achieved AIR-6.
