SIGNIFICANCE OF MOCK TESTS IN JEE PREPARATION

Mock JEE

“Practice makes a man perfect.” We all are familiar with this famous quote. For qualifying exams like JEE, practice is the key factor. And one of the best ways to practise for such competitive exams is taking the mock tests. As the name suggests, these tests mock the original situation and thus the candidate becomes familiar with the real ambience he is likely to experience.

Once a candidate is finished with the major part of the JEE syllabus, these mock tests play a vital role in the revision process. These mock exams make us familiar with the level of questions that would be asked in the original exam. Candidate gets to know the different types of questions to focus on during preparations if he is regular in taking these mock tests. There are certain kinds of questions, which if solved in the conventional way would consume a lot of time. Once the candidate is familiar with those questions and the quick methods of solving them, it saves valuable time in the main exam. The tips and tricks that candidates learn while taking these tests prove to very handy on the D-Day.

One of the most important factors for achieving success in these prestigious exams is TIME MANAGEMENT. Mock tests help an aspirant to know how much time to devote in different sections of the question paper detailing down to particular type of questions and develop strategy accordingly. It is seen that many candidates are not able to attempt some questions or sometimes even some sections of the question paper, due to shortage of time. This problem can be easily resolved by taking mock tests regularly.

Sometimes, in spite of having ample knowledge and proper practice, the candidate is not able to score good marks. This is due to those “silly mistakes” he commits in the exam. He loses those valuable marks which affect his ranking adversely. And in exams like JEE, every mark counts. Taking mock tests points out those frequent errors committed by the aspirant and thus he can rectify them, so that not repeat them in the final exam.

By taking regular mock tests and rectifying the errors pointed out, the candidate’s score increases with every test and so does his rank among his peers. The candidate can see his rise in the performance graph and needless to say, his confidence becomes manifold.

So we can sum up by saying that these mock tests are like steps of a ladder, the ladder which leads you to your dream of qualifying JEE. Take each step carefully, use it to climb the next step and rise to achieve your goal.
