“Early bird gets the worm.” This proverb aptly describes the
importance of starting early if you want to reach your goals,in time.
In this era of cut-throat competition, the early you make a move, the more privileged you are. And exams like Joint Entrance Exam, which sees fierce competition every year, the more time to devote for preparations, the better you perform.Every year, approximately 1.3 million students take JEE,with the
ambition of studying in IIT/NITs of our country. But, a lot of dreams gets shattered. By a lot, we mean more than 97% aspirants who can not make into their dream colleges. Combined selection ratio in IIT/NITs is just around 3%,hardly. And if we go separately, this drops down to just 0.7% in IITs and rest in NITs. This gives a clear idea of the competition a JEE aspirant faces, before SUCCESSFULLY ending up at some IIT/NIT.
But,don’t loose your heart guys. Like every other problem, this one has a solution too. The solution is to start early. But the question is,
how much early? Let’s see. Every student knows his potential. Some aspirants are geniuses and some are hardworking. Believe us,both have equal opportunities of being successful. So,the right time to start preparations for an average hardworking aspirant is when he enters class IX. Now,this has two reasons.
Firstly, if you see the syllabus of class XI and XII,you will find
that they are mostly an advanced form of what you study in class IX
and X respectively. So if you have clear concepts of the basics, then
only you will have strong hold on advanced things. As it is rightly
said ” A strong base leads to a strong building.”
Secondly, you would be having complete 4 years to prepare. This allows you to give ample time and opportunities to devote to each and every topic of JEE, practise a lot of questions and slowly raise your level.
But as you see,a lot of students get serious about JEE once they pass
high school. There is no harm in doing so. But you will have only one
disadvantage ,lack of time. Coping up with boards and JEE pressure
simultaneously is not very easy. It does require a skill of Time
management and dedication in an aspirant. A lot of students join
coaching in class 11th which adds extra load on them of revising class
IX and X syllabus again,if concepts are not that clear.
So if you have time, utilise it. Start early and have an advantage over others.
Start early, you will never fall short of time!
