The very thought of appearing in exams sparks stress in almost all the students. There are a number of reasons behind this stress which may also result in getting the mark sheet painted in red. For some students, the stress is to remain at the top. The will to compete and be the best makes them read books 20 hours a day. For those students who did nothing throughout the year, the fear of repeating a class makes them skip meals and sleep less. Little do we realise that stressing out will give us worse results. Here are a few ways to shoo away this stress and have an eased out approach when exams are knocking at the door.
- Be organised: If your room is topsy-turvy, settle it. If your notes are incomplete, complete them. Being neat and organised is a very good way to relieve the human brain. Seeing things out of order will work up your brain which will lead to stress. So a neat environment is necessary too. You need to sort out your notes and get together your stationery. Find a proper table and a chair to work. Time yourself when you learn. Sort out a time table along with proper resting hours. Sleep will help remember what you learn.
- Posture: We don’t realise but the way we sit plays a huge role in stressing or de-stressing our brain. See to it that if you are sitting on a chair, you don’t have a hunch back. Avoid reading on the bed especially while you lie down. This will harm your eyes and won’t help you learn.
- Balanced diet: What you eat is also important. Many children tend to skip meals to save time and study. Never do this. Make sure you include a little of all the nutrients in your diet. Have a good breakfast every day to start on a positive note. Never go on an empty stomach because this might result in your concentration getting diverted towards your empty stomach rather than your exam.
- Break: Make sure you include small little constructive breaks in between. You can’t go on mugging all day long. Relax and read a book or watch television. Never study at a stretch for long hours. This will weaken your brain and you will forget what you have learnt a few minutes ago. Before you enter the exam hall, leave your books an hour before and just relax without revising. This helps in relieving stress.
- Stress Busters: In this techno savvy century, there are so many stress busters like video games, social sites, movies, music, e-books, etc. Pets also prove to be excellent stress relievers. The will divert you mind and will help you ease out a bit. Dogs and kittens are the best at this.
- Let it go: People tend to discuss questions and find out faults in other people’s answers. Don’t do this. What you did should satisfy you. Many times people pose as if their paper went well but actually they never wrote a word. Don’t bug yourself. Let it go.
It is very important to take care of your own self while you prepare for your exams. Being worried won’t give results.
