ARE COACHING CLASSES MANDATORY FOR JEE?

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is one of the toughest examinations of our country. Every year lakhs of students take this exam to get admission into the prestigious institutes such as the IITs and NITs. But among them, only a handful are able to make their way to their dream college. Why? Is it just because they manage to get enrollment into the best coaching centre in their locality? Or is the reason deeper than that? Let’s find out.

As soon as the JEE results are declared every year, almost every newspaper gets flooded with catchy advertisements of coaching institutes, each claiming maximum selections from their institute. Students and parents get attracted towards the SELECTION NUMBER and get enrolled. But people should look for SELECTION RATIO rather than
those big numbers because of the obvious reason that most of the coaching institutes try to hide that. Some institutes even deploy malpractices to attract aspirants. They publish testimonials of even those students who were not connected to them in any manner. Even in cases where the coaching institute has secured an impressive number of  IIT admissions, parents must take into account whether the particular institute is the right one for their child. Every child’s requirement is not the same.

A good start and half the battle is won. Most of the aspirants and their parents believe that in this cut-throat competition era, just school studies are not adequate to crack national level exams. Indeed this is true. Most of the state and central boards +2 curriculum is outdated and not designed to crack such prestigious exams. These require advanced preparations and here good coaching institutes become helpful. One basic pre-requisite to do well in these exams is ‘Smart Studying’. These institutes provide with specific study materials which is based on research and trend of the exams in the recent past. This demarcates what to study and more importantly how to study. Apart from
this, regular tests, revisions etc conducted. The competitive environment of coaching centres proves to be fruitful for aspirants as they learn to perform under pressure. But having said that, mere admission into such institutes does not guarantee success. In fact, apart from having above said benefits, it adds to the workload on the aspirant. It depends on his ability to synchronize boards preparation with JEE preparation to get positive results. Aspirants can mess up things and end nowhere.
So, when you think of getting enrolled in coaching centres for JEE preparation this summer, do not forget to consider these things. Synchronize professional guidance of coaching centres with your time management skills to crack JEE.
